Happy Birthday Harris Malden

Honestly, I am just watching this because it’s about a guy that draws on a moustache all the time (it changes all the time). Can’t tell if I really like it. It is definitely different. An interesting concept. Shows his downward spiral when someone points out that it is fake. Check it out if you’re bored and like facial hair.

Friends all give loveable and idiosyncratic Harris Malden (Nick Gregorio) special treatment. No one wants to tell him that his large, black drawn-on moustache isn’t real. So they go along with the illusion — until his friend’s (Eric M. Levy) date blurts the obvious. Now they must deal with the consequences of Harris’s breakdown. Brigitte Hagerman stars as Paul’s girlfriend, Susan, in this quirky comedy about unconditional love and acceptance.” -Netflix

Watched “Blood into Wine” finally. It kept popping up into my Netflix queue and I was ignoring it, but I read the description and realized it was something I did want to watch. It also helped be discover Puscifer who I have heard, but never listened too.

If you’re into Tool, or any of Maynard James Keenan’s stuff, or even wine really because that’s the obvious subject in this movie, check this out

Skyline

I feel like I’ve been posting every movie I watch lately. I haven’t. This is one of the many, many, many alien movies that has/is coming out over the past year is. It’s actually pretty unique. I guess it was a low budget, I don’t actually know that. Cool effects. I haven’t finished it yet, in fact I just got to the part with the aliens. But it’s on Netflix Instant, which surprised me. Check it out, I haven’t seen many of the other alien movies yet but I think this one stands out, I’m sure they all do. I like all movies (almost).

I can’t tell if these things are ship, robots, or the aliens themselves. The cast isn’t terrible either. Almost reminds me of Cloverfield. I don’t know why because they are nothing alike. Watch it, it’s only like 97 minutes.

AND THERE”S A WILHELM SCREAM IN IT!

Adventures of Power

Found this on instant watch. I saw a preview for it a while ago. Watching it now. I like it. It’s about a guy on his journey to become a famous airdrummer. Follow your dreams.

They are doing this really cool thing every time he starts drumming the lighting changes. Love it.

Montages are ridiculous too.

Paycheck

I can’t exactly say this movie is the best thing ever made, because well, it’s not. It’s actually not even that good. It’s pretty ridiculous. But the cast is insane. Paul Giamatti, Ben Affleck, Uma Thurman, Aaron Eckhart, even Michael C. Hall. I mean you really can’t complain about the people in this movie.

Time travel movies are always a brain buster because every single one handles how it happens differently. This one isn’t so much travel as it is just seeing the future. It never says how far into the future or how to control it, but if you can bend light around the earth enough you will look back on yourself, only in a different time. Simple enough. Aside from that, like 12 different people look into the future and are all constantly changing the different futures they saw, it’s hard to believe that none of them changed the futures the other one was changing therefore screwing up the other persons changes…Right?

Soldier

Just rewatched this and I totally forgot how much I liked it. Kurt Russell’s performance is so strong. He says under 50 words (I counted 47 and a few grunts) the entire movie. But everything is dead on and the story is actually pretty good. Check it out.

Rubber

This movie is about a tire that rolls around blowing things up with its psychic powers. I just started it, but I think it’s one of my new favorites. Netflix instant watch for the win.

They Live

The fight scene in this movie never ceases to amaze me. John Carpenter, we need more of your kind.

The Perfect Score

I don’t want to write a whole review of this, but here is the Netflix Instant Watch description and a few thoughts.

Erika Christensen, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Darius Miles, Bryan Greenberg and Leonardo Nam play high school students who go to great lengths to make a statement: They’re going to beat a system they deem unfair by cheating on it. Determined not to let their SAT exam scores define their future, they plan to steal copies of the test from their local testing center and rig the exam so they get the perfect score. But will their plan work?”

Honestly a lot funnier than I remember, old humor is the best because not only is it funny, but it’s dated which makes things that aren’t funny to begin with funny. I really only wanted that say that, and post this so I could make this picture.

The Other Guys

This is on Netflix Instant now. Wasn’t too interested in seeing it in theaters but here it is.

While an elite pair of New York City cops (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson) nabs headlines for their amazing heroics, fellow boys in blue Allen (Will Ferrell) and Terry (Mark Wahlberg) toil in obscurity as lowly desk jockeys, until a big break finally gives them a chance to tackle real police work. Rob Riggle, Eva Mendes, Michael Keaton and Steve Coogan co-star in this action-packed comedy directed by Adam McKay.”

I can honestly say that this movie is absolutely nothing like what I expected it to be. But truth be told it is funny, and for some reason it has a much bigger budget than I thought it would. Therefore they have the room to blow shit up for no reason.

Watch the movie because it has a random group of people who in any other circumstances wouldn’t be in a movie together.
